Who can join the Voyagers?

If you own a street legal motorcycle, and are a properly licensed rider, you are invited to become a Prospective Member. Prospective Members must be sponsored by a current member. Obviously. members would preferably be from the Mid-Michigan Tri-Cities area.

What's a "street legal motorcycle"?

The VMR is promoting safe riding and therefore wants to ensure that members are safe. Therefore we insist that your motorcycle meets the minimum standards set down by the state. This means that your motorcycle needs to have daytime running lights, operational signal lights, mirrors and horn, and that your exhaust noise does not exceed the state maximum decibel allowance.  We believe that safety means not only the way you operate your motorcycle, but also how you affect others on the road. In general, loud pipes tend to annoy others and that leads to unsafe riding conditions.

Our founding members all ride Honda Goldwings, but we welcome all makes and models.

How much does it cost?

Full Membership in the VMR is $5 per year. Since memberships are on a sponsorship basis, we invite prospective members to ride with us several times to ensure that the group riding style suits them. Membership dues are not collected until such time as a prospective member becomes a full member.

Our membership fees are low as we use the money strictly to pay for meeting costs and to pay our annual "Association" fees to the state.

Does my Significant Other have to join in order to ride with me?

No. They are welcome to ride with you if they wish, and join you in any group activities. In addition, there are several events each year to which the entire family is invited. You may, of course, have a member of your family (or a friend) ride with you - we do not limit passengers to "significant others"

Where are meetings held?

For the 2006 riding season, we will be holding our meetings at the Tittabawassee Township Memorial Park Building in Freeland, Michigan. This is located directly behind the Citgo gas station, and you reach it via Park Street just south of Freeland Road on M-47. If you're not familiar with the area, click on this link to see a map of the area. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month (unless the hall has already been reserved), and begin at 7:00 PM.
